It’s an important Saturday for Marr Rugby’s 1s and 2s as they face fixtures where the results may have a significant impact on how the rest of the season will unfold for all four teams involved.

Sitting in second spot in the league, the 2s head for Braidholm to face third placed and hard chasing GHA knowing that they need to maintain their good run of results and keep the pressure on in the chase for the top spot.

Meanwhile at Fullarton the Green machine arrives in the form of a resurgent Hawick side, buoyed by their win last weekend, and who will see Marr as fair game to help get them up the league table. Marr’s players and coaches will not be minded to do Hawick any favour and with no quarter given on the field and a very vocal support for both sides we expect a frantic and noisy afternoon.

The final fixture sees the 3s on the road to West Lodge to play Whitecraigs 2s.

With the after effects of storm Caroline and incoming weather front that is bringing winter rugby for the weekend please keep watching the website, Facebook page and twitter for any updates re all three fixtures. West Lodge has recently had a run of match postponements due to waterlogged or frozen pitches. Today Fullarton was fine…

Marr Rugby 1st XV preview: (match sponsor George McLachlan supporting Heartstart Ayrshire
While Marr Rugby were suffering disappointment at Goldenacre, Hawick were celebrating their first win of the season after comfortably defeating Stirling County. The results saw Hawick narrow the gap points and for both sides a win will be a significant step in the battle for league position.

Marr know they have to reduce their error count and convert pressure into points. While the availability of Conor and Scott Bickerstaff will add to their cutting edge they know well that Hawick’s pack and backline pose a real attacking threat, especially from talisman Bruce McNeil, who, on his day, is a potential match winner.

Marr Rugby 2nd XV preview:
NOTE - fixture to be played at Hutchison Grammar's pitches

This fixture, which was re-arranged from 4 November due to waterlogged pitches at Braidholm, will be a real test for Marr Rugby’s 2s as they try to maintain their good run of performances and results. With only five points separating the teams the winner will take a big step to consolidating into second place in the league and then tracking down leaders Hawick. GHA will be confident having last week demolished Boroughmuir and an unbeaten home record. Marr know that they will have to step up their already good level of performance to bring home a result.
