It's a full card for Marr Rugby's senior sides this weekend with some tasty fixtures for supporters to enjoy, home and away.
The 1st XV travel to Philliphaugh in the first of the reverse fixtures. It's always a challenging venue for visiting sides to get a result and this will be an even edgier tie as both sides are desperate for points to help build on their league campaign. Marr's squad is perhaps the strongest it has been since the opening match of the season. A number of key players return following lengthy injury lay offs, in particular Alex Apthorpe and Blair Jardine and we see several new and returning faces who are making their first starts, in particular Ross Maiden, Michael Kirk and Ben Johnston.
For those not travelling on Saturday a day at Fullarton offers the opportunity to see the 2nd XV who are able to field a strong squad in what is likely to be a high scoring match, while our 3s get the local derby against Ayr's 2As.
On Sunday the spotlight turns to the Marrlequins who travel to Dumfries for their final league match of the season. Marr lie top of the table with Dumfries in second spot and either side could clinch the title. The Marrlequins have a five point advantage over Dumfries and know that a single point will see them claim the title but equally know that Dumfries are going to coming out battling to take the win and prevent Marr from getting anything. It's shaping up as an absolute cracker - all roads lead to Dumfries, with a Marr supporters bus and other travelling fans ensuring Park Farm will be awash with purple and gold.
