Summary
In what is a brutal season for the 1st XV, the chance to gain critical points was missed and makes the task even harder. The next few matches will be season defining. Marr Rugby’s supporters are needed more than ever to get behind the squad. It’s been a challenging year, made harder with significant injuries complicating the situation. While we are seeing return and introduction of new players we know there is a long and difficult road ahead.

The 2s have also had a challenging season and been hit by the need to support the 1s. This week they were able to return to almost full strength and this meant a sort of return to normality and a good win against Glasgow Accies. This Saturday they play what would last season have been Ayr 1s. This will be a significant test.
Our 3s are our social/youth development side. Playing Ayr 2As – last year’s 2nd XV was a big test and step too far. Bragging right clearly came into play as Ayr fielded a strengthened squad. Despite the result not going our way, we remain 2nd spot in the league.
On Sunday it was a Purple and Gold performance and result that allowed the weekend to end on a high as Marr Rugby’s Marrlequins secured a title deciding win against Dumfries. Going into the match Marr held the advantage and needed a single point to take the win the league but the Marrlequins did it in style by winning a hard fought 80 minutes.
